End, who knows!

All the very best Al. Plenty of advice given. Usual mixture of light banter, serious sense, enticement to commit a criminal offence, and Perry (who regularly manages to combine all three).
Just take you time, listen to good tunes, and keep posting.

Have you considered raising the suspension on your VW?

Thought not :)

Take it easy and find a nice physio to look after you ...

;)

I am going to go away and get better, then I will see what's what!

Thanks to all the well wishers and Perry!

There are loads of you with nackered lower backs so you all know how I feel at the moment. Just a bit down, but not out! :D

I had 2 back Op's last year due to a prolapsed disc ... trust me I was on cancer meds for the pain, I thought popping the shoulder out hurt but nerve pain is a few steps up !!!

I was really lucky as through work we have private medical so in a sorted but I have a m8 who has back pain for 10 years plus and only just got a MRI scan due to me nagging him but was always told by doc's he would never get rid of the pain .... turns out he has a disc problem !!
And can be sorted the same as mine ..... Just think if 10 years ago he had the OP !!!

When talking to the surgeon who did my back I would of had the same op on the NHS but would of taken 6 months plus ... private 2 weeks

The whole point of my ramblings is with the NHS you have to fight tooth and nail to sorted or they will happy ignore you

And you can't be as bad as my better half ... both hips and shoulders replaced and now 38 just today in the next year or so she will have to have one of the hip replacement replaced as it's over 17 years old
She's as hard as a coffin nail

I too have a prolapsed disc in my lower back, infact two! .I have been through the NHS physio unit in Cornwall. This lasted for the first 6 months of my injury, I have been seeing my Chiroprator for the last few years. He realigns my back and I get a deep massage every couple of months.

I agree with you on the pain scale  I have never had pain like the pain I get when my back 'goes out'! It also goes into spasm and I end up locked in the fetal position (then I am screwed) for a while. :(

Although I know the two week recovery plan.

I think I will go and see the back Doctor again and see what he has to say about an op'.

Cheers,al :D

Best of luck !!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discectomy

But without a MRI scan and seeing Surgeon who know what is wrong with your back

When I went to see my Doc first he was a little stand offish first about it then when I said I had medical cover he was on PC looking for spinal surgeons

NHS is all about the money they don't have to spend !!
Maybe you should be a single mum with woodend leg and not born of this country !!!

Your back problem sounds very similar to the agony I went through most of last year. I had a herniated disks L3 & L4. What you need is a jolly middle-aged woman to bounce on top of you. Or an osteopath to put it more plainly. That's what I had, plus some traction, twice daily specific back stretches and massage therapy. It was so bad at times I was blaming my out-bursts of pain induced expletives on Tourette's syndrome. The worst pain would put me into the fetal position as you have described and I would become stuck like it. Strangely using a floor pump was agony and still gives me a twinge to this day.

Tried physio's - temporary relief only
Tried chiropractors - as above
Tried osteopaths - no quick results but long term relief from pain after structured course of treatments.

I know this no-where near you but this is where I went http://www.osteopathics.co.uk/

I found that doing stuff, like riding my bike and keeping active helped my back. Sitting at work without getting up from my desk for hours was agony. Getting into / out of bed was really bad. Whereas, the stretched retro bike riding position was relief from pain.
