End to End Build AND Ride

Oops....I forgot to post progress!

Day two was another scorcher. Did 60 miles on a round trip from Penzance taking in RNAS Culdrose, Goonhilly Downs satellite station, Lizard point and many lovely little villages. Stopped off in a chocolate factory on the way back.

Next day was the Grand Depart and the start of the ride for real... 90 miles out of Corwall into Devon and a pile of climbing.
Sadly, the route was misty almost all the way which made photo ops rare.
Ended up doing over 100 miles and 2250m of climbing thanks to some issues with the route.

The day fom Devon to Somerset was mostly rain... no pics

Well, as days on a bike go yesterday was about as good as Ive ever had.

In glorious sunshine, I ticked off three of Britains most famous sights AND got to ride over them!

Cheddar Gorge was a slight detour off the direct route, but very worth it. Not as steep or long (the Gorge proper) but it is beautiful and not an insignificant amount of climbing.


Next up was the village and Lake at Blagdon absolutely lovely and at the bottom of an enormous descent.

Climbing back out of this valley brought me within site of Bristol, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.




A few miles further on and it was another altogether bigger bridge - the Severn.Sadly there was no border sign so I parked the bike in the middle and imagined it had a wheel in each of England and Wales.



After negotiating Chepstow, the road to Monmouth was a joy. Mostly great surface with lots of great scenery and for the first time I felt as if I was going down rather than up!

And to end the day... this was the view from my bedroom window
