Eight thousand up! Cinelli Ottomilainsu

That Cinelli saddle would look fantastic on your Cinelli build, what is this other mystery white saddle? 🤨
Well, it turned out to be a beauty.
I found it at the back of a closet and it was disgusting.
I asked myself: "Juanjo, why do you keep this đź’©!!"

Okay, actually it's because I always really liked the Regal Girardi, ever since I was a kid and I imagine I kept it for that reason.

But when I turned it over I saw that it was the aluminum version and that it had never been put on a seatpost!! It's NOS
So I've been cleaning it very lovingly.
I didn't want to say anything because I didn't know how it was going to turn out.
but although the white puel is a little yellowish, otherwise it has been left pristine

The gold screen printing with the logos is beautiful
The studs are impeccable.
Reviewing this small process: I am missing a small piece for the seat post that is already arriving
I have the saddle
I found a tire and hope to have it next week.

Ah! the bottle cage...there was only one option and I already have it

It really has very good paint and finishes.
The frame is Columbus EL and the assembly is a complete XT and everything works as if it were new. Of course it has been lucky
It's beautiful! I know everyone has their own tastes, but it's beautiful no matter how you look at it.
Of the rest of the pieces, I love the stem, a friend of mine calls it "Italian Atac" and it's true, Jjjj
The Cinelli grips, the Cinelli aluminum handlebar plugs (these are for the road, but it's a nice detail), the matching handlebars.

Well, for now it has come with an Araya RM 17 and a Mavic 230, so I will have to find a pair for one of them, preferably the European one
You also need a seat post and a saddle. Well, I'm already seeing solutions to that.

And really no more. There is little that can be done to improve this bike.View attachment 927257View attachment 927258View attachment 927259View attachment 927260View attachment 927261View attachment 927262
Seems to me that this bike was mostly just stored somewhere, and was barely used.
Looks great

Thank you!
The truth is that I think it must have been a sample unit, one of those that is taken on display or left to the press (they take it for 3 walks, make a report with nice photos and keep it until they take it away).
The front wheel being different is common due to a rim change after a brutal "landing" or a bad fall. This bike has never had any of that, you can see it right away. So the wheel and the seat post must have been lost in some transfer.
Or so I think

One of my favourite saddles, perforated cover no less 👍🏻

The alloy rails are unusual, are they compatible with a standard seatpost clamp or do they require a special clamp?

They are compatible. The only thing is that you may need a longer screwThe rails have some "lobes" on the rails that adapt to the rounded shapes of the usual nut on the seatposts
In the last photo I posted you can clearly see that rounded area.
But since that area is at the top and bottom and the square part is in the middle, in the end it is longer than the usual rod and that is why you might need a longer screw.
This hasn't happened to me on this occasion, but I was close to needing other screws (nothing problematic)

I've been away all week and when I got back the part I was missing for the seat post arrived and I brought a Mavic 230 rim that I found in very good condition
The weather is very bad in Madrid, with heavy rain, intense wind and terrible cold, so I won't be able to do much with the bike
It's true that it's very good, but there's some rust here and there and it needs to be removed or replaced (screws, cable, etc.). I also have to adjust the brakes and I imagine the gears, position the levers, position the grips correctly and other small details like cutting the cables properly.
Well, I don't think I'll be able to do all that because of the storm, but for now I've already fitted the rim

I think I'll take advantage of the opportunity to fit more wheels, the weather is too bad to be riding bikes in the garden
I found a reducer sleeve so I can use a new IRD. I looked at Mombat and they recommend it for the early 90s, so perfect, I like that seat post
As for pedals, I found some 737s in their box when I was rummaging around a bit this afternoon.
And the tires, well, I have some doubts: I like the Geax ones that it comes with and the idea that they are from the Vittoria brand, it's a classic Italian one.
But I was preparing material for another bike and I have some light Hutchinson Rock-X Country... they're French but Paola Pezzo used them...
The truth is, there's little more Italian in MTB than Paola Pezzo
I don't know, I'll think about it

Taking advantage of a couple of hours without rain, I have removed the brakes (the springs were backwards), changed some rusty screws, adjusted the gears (especially the derailleur which was too high and worked poorly) and little else
There are still a few things left to do, like finding a better quality 1 1/4 headset, but for now it's ready IMG_3161.webp IMG_3163.webp IMG_3164.webp IMG_3165.webp IMG_3166.webp IMG_3167.webp IMG_3168.webp IMG_3169.webp IMG_3170.webp IMG_3173.webp
