...but wasn't sure where to post it, so Mod's feel free to move it where you will ;)

Any way, found this whilst looking for a decent alternative to no longer available original Nitromors...

...apparently it's the same carcinogenic, use-at-your-own-peril, full NBC suit requiring product that the Nanny State now decrees we cannot be trusted to use for fear we will be tempted to take the occasional nip whilst stripping that old bike frame, prior to painting it on our eyes then inhaling it through a used Costa Coffee straw!

I would find /pay someone to blast it with soda powder or walnut shells. very gentle. Doesn't cost a bunch of $ or lbs. Plus your lungs and finger tip skin will appreciate it late in your life. Chemical stripping is nasty and a lot of work. Hand your frame and few bucks over to a pro and it will be stripped nicely and you have a clean canvas to work with. Just my opinion.

...agree wholeheartedly on the actual frame issue (too much like hard work  ) but I am in the process of repainting some forks, for which chemical stripper is a godsend :?

I have to disagree.
I painted a frame with skinstyripper, within minutes some of the paint lifted, I brushed that paint off, with the paint brush I put the stripper on with. Then I wacked a nice thick coat of stripper on it and wrapped some old polythene around the tubes, the next day I hosed the paint off and scrubbed the frame at the same time with a stainless quid shop pan scourer thingie.
The result, a lovely clean bare metal frame, The frame had original paint and several other coats of paint. It needs a light ali oxide blasting to prep it for a coat of epoxy now.

I understand that when stripping things like forks or small parts, chemical strippers are easier. My point is when stripping a nice vintage frame with nice lugs, soda or media blasting is better ( my opinion). Why? first off chemical striping agents can hide out in the crevices around the lugs, bottle mounts, etc. So when you paint the frame, the chemicals in the stripper can come back and cause issues in your paint. This is last thing you want when you have laid down several coats of primer, top coats with wet sanding between coats. Tons of time wasted. If you are restoring something special then get it blasted. If you are striping a frame to do a rattle can job on it. I have had luck with aircraft stripper. Just make sure you rinse the frame off really good, and you think when think you have it rinsed off, do it again. Believe me I have wasted a lot of time and money trying to do it on the cheap.....These are my opinions and mine only. Others may have excellent results with different stuff. Good Luck in your projects.

Haven't got round to ordering it yet!

Did buy another couple of forks though!

...and thanks for reminding me

It has a short life according to the use by date. It only lasts a year and the one I bought runs out in January! Th person who sold it to me said it was because of pressure build up in the bottle and the pressure needs releasing then it will be ok! Not really sure!
Anyway, I'm off to see if it worked.

So....is this stuff any good? I've got a couple of frames to strip and seeing as Nitromors has been dumbed down for the EU I'm not sure what is the next best thing/alternative?
