^truth. In a well thought out frame, chain stays are made stiffer in order to handle the power of the driveline. Seat stays have more flex for ride comfort. Thus, brakes on the bottom will have less frame flex to deal with, delivering more braking power

I do like to see chain stay mounted ones tho. Clogging issues aside theyre a clear point in the history of mtbs that i have real nostalgia for and the seat stays/bridge look really clean.
