This is nuts !

Honestly, I spend most of my time unloading accumulated crap from my pockets, so this, is anathema to me.

Oh and I just love the military references these civilians use, no wonder they are champing at the bit to go to war all the time, it is bred into them.

Well you never know anything could happen on that 10 mile commute to work.

I want to see what he's got in his "bug out bag".

I like in the comments underneath one guy says he gets nearly all that gear into his trousers

Must admit I've watched a few of these recently and think they're great entertainment, a couple of them carried like about 5 or more knives.

Thing is these are the sort of people who carry knives or guns and are unlikely to shoot someone or stab them.

That said i don't really get the whole bug out thing, it really shows a whole next level of paranoia imo.

That said my other half has got a handbag which she bought at great expense is half the size of her but yet contains nothing of any use.
The she turns to me to ask for a pen, paper tissues or other little every day things....i still haven't gathered just what she carries in that damn bag apart from her purse.

Have to admit I carry a knife with me 90% of the time. Heres a piccy of my edc knife.

Oh that piccys an enlarged size so as you can see gonna be going out and shanking some yoof for dissin me innit

More American cultural habits coming over the Atlantic. I can understand why people from certain places over there might have a 'Bug out Bag', but I don't think it's really a necessity here in the UK.

'They' do tend to go a bit over-the-top with it though. I watched one video on YouTube where a guy had a huge snugpak with an axe and water filtration device. He lived in Birmingham. He said "I don't like to carry my stuff in a rucksack, it freaks the civilians out" Made me laugh.

Is it just a harmless hobby, or is it out and out paranoia ?

But Brits doing it as well, the mind boggles, especially when we have what we have in this country the laws, which are often intentionally vague and an enforcement agency with a severe lack of common sense.

Not wanting to undermine the ever-so-slightly disturbing kookiness of all this... but to the average, texting, twittering, night-clubbing "normal" people of today, obsessing about old bikes is just as wierd than these tin-hatters going all John-Rambo with their super-duper packed lunches.

That said, they do remind me of some of those sketches in The Fast Show, with the outdoor types always just about to do something wild, then bottling out.

Curiously, although my interest in retro bikes is because of what I know having never progressed onto suspension and linear brakes, aluminium, single track and down hill, my retro bike is a form of transport that is a bit different to suit my individuality and that because I am in no position to buy anything more modern, so I deal with second hand and refurbished parts were possible and where not, the cheapest deal I can find, as with me even sodding Clarks control cables are an expense I have to budget for.

Retro biking to me is a lot to do with budget off road cycling.

This EDC thing, to me is a lot of expense on unnecessary items purchased because of what ? Effective marketing, a fantasy, something to collect, surplus money or paranoia ?

And don't get me started on those that do the key bunch EDC thing, that is madder than mad.

Funny i never thought it would transfer to the uk.

Even if it isn't paranoia, this country is so small we have no where to really bug out to. Pointless in my eyes...
