I wonder what the one patent is that that Czech crankarm company actually received. It's mentioned on the large hi-quality sticker that's on the back of one of the cranks. :?

Clearly, that's a Czech patent:

not a US one:

I don't speak any Czech, but Google Translate seems to do a fair job. From what I can figure out from a rough translation of the claim description, the patent mostly seems to cover the hollow boss structure to which the arm and spider are attached.

A reminder item for those of us that worked in shops through most of the 80's to mid 90's....didn't every shop have some of these on their tool board.
When I first saw these I didn't think they'd ever make it to the 15 dollar starting bid...guess there's a few of us old shop hounds that wanted to relive some of that old mechanic magic...and with the old tools from a n earlier era.

Campagnolo are the same - Their old tools go for silly money.
The workshop toolkit in a wooden box (or just bits of the full set) goes for INSANE amounts of money. But then it cost a fortune to buy when new.

Well Campag you expect. But Dia Compe?

Tangent: I passed up a full, boxed set of Aero Gran Compe (AGC) short-reach brakes at a cycle jumble on Sunday for 35€. I've seen the brake pads go for more than that on eBay.
