Early winter weather warnings

“I expect December, January, and February to experience below-average temperatures, with the heaviest snowfalls occurring within the time frame of November to January across many parts of the UK.”

Oh winter then

It did feel a bit chilly today though, and it is coming on cold, quick.
I dont doubt it at all.

You should really sort your boiler!
Or get lots of blankets.

I'm easily swayed and will happily side with the 'another bumper Winter' crowd: it's enough for me that there are loads of berries in the hedgerows.

And if someone said that a mate of a colleague had heard from his pal that unusually low solar activity is causing a variation in the course of the jet stream, which is likely to bring colder and drier 'continental weather' to the UK instead of the ususal warmer, wet Atlantic stuff -- I'd start stockpiling Dammart.

That Express story makes me want to eat my desk though: some Weather Men think its going to be a cold winter because they think its going to be cold; and anyway, bad weather is really bad too because a volunteer minibus driver, 68, died when a tree crashed into his vehicle.

Does anyone still buy newspapers?

:x

i work outdoors for my job, fixing gas escapes in roads/paths etc, winters are the hardest time for me, 100+hr weeks in the cold.......brrrrrr.

on the plus side, my surly pugsley is due in 10 days time

Are these the same forecasters that were warning us about 6 months ago of a really hot summer? Is it just me or has the ability to forecast accurately got worse the more technology they've used for predictions?

thats right, just wait and see, dont plan too far ahead as we are stuck regardless of the conditions, good or bad, this country is useless.......

it maybeeee a coincidence.... but:

Back in the last worst lot (2009?) I noticed a whole load of brand new gritter lorries being delivered that October.

Guess what I saw today, being delivered in September...
