Early Eddy Merckx identification and Campagnolo parts id

My guess the frame is 1983, mix of campa, not able to identify the components. If anyone could help i would appreciate it. On the crank arm it says: 172.5 Strada and a circle with a 2.

It looks as it got a reynolds decal, not much left of it, could be 531.

Front derailleur is Record, cranks are Record with Super Record or after market chainrings. Brake calipers are Record, but brake blocks are after market without wheel guides. Headset looks to be Record.

A nice but rather unloved bike.

Record cranks are 1982 (2 in a circle) and the rest of the componentry is of the same era

Thanks a lot!

It says stronglight on the large chain ring (crank), and the rear derailleur is a 980, i will provide with some detail pictures of the shifters.

Rear wheel is not original a shimano/araya, front it NISI/record, it may explain the low budget rear derailleur.

Re:

I dunno how soon after retirement Eddy went into the frame marketing business, but the over-bracket cable guides suggest the frame might be a bit earlier- '79-'81? I'd expect an '83 frame to have under-bracket guides, and probably a braze-on front mech as well, but I might be wrong..

Looks similar to my own Merckx which is maybe 82/3 - The very early frames gave EMerckx as a signature engraved on the seat stays see 2nd link - bit later have the EM logo. Mine has the {EM}.
You should be able to find some refs to De Rosa being either heavily involved or actually the builder of the early frames, but when that happened/stopped I can't help with. I did write twice to the factory with a date query but never got a reply. I`d expect tubing to be Columbus - mine is.
A lot of the web based info gets repeated but I don`t know the original source. I have a photocopy of an early catalogue & the pics in the second link are from that.
Couple of links :

I had some replacement transfers made up by Lloyds & they were perfect - he'll still have the pattern.

It`ll be a lovely bike to ride, 2019 will be the best year to ride it .....
Good luck with building it up.
