I like that the article states that "lower-quality equipment usually causes concerns for their shop as opposed to items from Shimano, Bosch, or higher-quality e-bike brands" and later mentions the recall on the Santa Cruz Heckler. They didn't mention the Specialized recall.
The bicycle doesn't need to be electric. It's a wonderful form of transport. Minimal damage to the environment and it keeps the human fit. Unlike cars or any e transport. EV's damage the world just in different ways. Those batteries are not kind to the world. I'm glad I'm not young any more. I don't like the way the world is going.
I tend to agree on e-Bikes, but as cheap transport replacing cars they are great - less pollution and congestion. I'm not keen on the ones ridden off-road by people who look basically physically fit. But let's hope that they are a gateway into riding the old-fashioned way?

There's a large contingent of riders who only want to go downhill so ebike saves on uplift or gives more runs per day where there isn't one. Some downhillers migrate to enduro - some don't.
E bikes have their place. FIL and MIL both have one. they have both ridden for many many years and the ebikes are allowing that to continue in their 70's. FIL has 2 false knees, the ebike helps.
he's ridden more miles than me this year thats for sure.
