I have noticed the paint around the joint at the top of the down tube and head has cracked and worried the joint is becoming loose. Although cannot see any movement, is there any way of getting this checked and repaired if required.

After I had mine powder coated, to check on the alledged "heat destroys the bond" theories i just gave it right good ragging, pulling and pushing in all directions.

It held.

If you're really worried, have it tested using either a dye or x-rays.

The dye is the cheapest method and will usually show any cracks that run all the way through the welds.
X-ray is expensive, but you'll get a pretty good view of any non-fusion (incomplete welds or cracks inside welds).

I think he means it's a bonded frame as he mentions a 'joint'

i have attached some pictures.
The tubing is 2125
if both the lugs and the tubes are titanium could these not be welded?[/img]

The 3 main tubes are titanium. The head lug is alloy. The joint shows signs of movement and it appears that the bond has become loose.

The long travel forks have not helped.

Oops that does look like the tube is coming adrift from the lug, I'm no expert on these frames but there's others on here who are so you'll get an answer soon.
I'd not ride it until a solution is found though, you don't want the tube seperating at an inopportune moment :shock:
