does anyone remember the bike made out of beryllium? extremely light but potentially deadly if you scratched it well i was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of it?

I think it was a statement bike (ie only one made) by the company 'American' and was bought by a dealer in the far-east for $15K or something!

.. and yeah, you'd have to remember not to grind it up and snort the dust.

That's the exact article i read and i was amazed by it because it reminded me of the SUSAT sights on the SA80 being really dangerous when damaged and requiring people in special suits to clear up the nuclear hazard all for basic light enhancement :?

it seems strange that Beryllium-Copper is quite commonly used... I think the leaf springs in my White cassette hub are made from it.

I think that the beryllium in the bike frame was of a higher purity than your pawl springs. They're probably a lot safer. ;)
