Does anyone know what year my Specialized rockhopper is?

Hey guys, just wondered if you could help me with what year my bike is. Picked it up today it’s in very good condition and rides perfect. It’s a Specialized Rockhopper Comp 18inch frame 26inch wheels.
I’m really pleased with the purchase, everything looks original to me. Only thing wrong with it is a slight tear in the saddle and also the one of grips is slightly damaged

looks like 97, might be something in the Manufacturer Archive to confirm, or image search

I'm no expert but reckon it could be a '96.Check the archive,entry level Rockhopper was available in dark blue,decals are from around that era.

Nice find, these make great hacks. Dont tell anyone, but I bought the Aluminium 97 Rockhopper new after seeing one on the Spesh stand at Bike 97 Olympia. Wish i'd bought the steel one, but I had lots of compliments on the sky blue colour.

Enjoy, will be lovely to ride on the L2B, put some slicks on for a mega smooth ride.
