Hello everyone . Here I show you some of the restorations of Tioga and Sugino discs. Some are my own, others have been sent to me to bring back to life. Some time ago I found a Kevlar thread exactly like the original, and the correct way to reassemble the loose sheets. Any questions or concerns will be welcome and if I can help I will be happy to do so.

I begin by showing the last one that has passed through my hands and that is already returning to its owner.

Something almost unique, since only two are known and it was very exciting for me to be able to restore it.

This is a front Sugino Disc, which was owned by Greg Herbold and which was abandoned and stacked for more than 30 years in his house.

It was difficult since there were no original images of the wheel. It was restored by copying the few pieces of plastic that it still had.
The main problem was to remake the 4 sheets with holes and then have them match when joined together.

In total there were more than 15,000 holes, punched one by one

After several days of die cutting, arrange the kevlar rope.In the image you can see the old and the new

And the construction began.
The aluminum mesh had to be cleaned and old stickers and pieces of plastic removed.

After stringing with the inner plastic in place, it remained to put in the aluminum mesh and the outer plastic.

The system of joining everything is simple. You only need a heat gun, 3M adhesive spray, a vacuum cleaner and an XL vacuum bag.

Same process for the other part, I place stickers and start with the assembly

I attach the two sheets to the hub, use screw sealant and let it dry for a couple of days and then place the rim.

I think the result was incredible. She now she is alive. There was only a provisional alignment left (the original rim was quite bent)

And furthermore, I have been lucky enough to be able to try it. She's been great.

After two small tests, I re-aligned everything.
