Wanted Disc brake conversion adapters

Joshua

Dirt Disciple
Does anyone know of an adapter kit for a normal brakebosses equipped frame and rigid fork that can be used to mount disc brakes on? The frame I'd be using is the 1991 Koga Ridgerunner as I want to do an upgrade.

A2Z adapter for the rear end. change the fork for the front.
For hoses, Tie wraps are as good as any, although there are adapters out there that fit through the cable guide.

I have a brake therapy floating carrier for a rear disc brake. It was fitted to my wilderness trail bikes Bon Tempe which I sold on this forum earlier this year.It was not a cheap conversion but it was solid as a rock and the torque arm can attatch to the brake boss or to a separate frame mounted clamp. My mate had one and fixed the torque arm to his seatpost.
You will need to remove the hub spacer from the non drive side then the carrier goes onto the axle where the spacer was.
There are no easy cheap ways to convert a conventional canti set up to discs,With great respect the A2Z adapters put a huge stress on the dropouts which were never meant to take the torque of a disc brake. The therapy kit is designed to specifically address this.
If you want to look at this further pm me I can send pics of the set up I hd on my bike and go from there.
All he best
Kevin

Joshua, here is a picture of the set up,the torque arm can be shortened to fit the canti boss,it may need a bit of tweaking to fit your bike exactly but I ran it for a good number of years with zero problems, there is a review of this kit on bikeradar if you type

I've seen a few boss failures using the brake therapy style mounts. The bosses arent designed for the stress of being pushed upwards. The fact you can mount them elsewhere is good, looks nice on the frame above.

Thanks ishaw,it was a very good system ,I have heard of failures of bosses ,The longer arm does allow a selection of mounting points.
Non of the retro fit solutions are ideal but if ,like me,you own a very nice frame that you want to keep ,the therapy unit allows the disc upgrade, which is very significant compared to even the best canti brakes. I used Hope X2s and the difference was incredible.
It also allows the owner to go back to cantis without any work having been done on the frame as it is a bolt on.So if you want to sell the frame on at a later date,no problem.
I should have said to the OP,it is obviously for sale ,I will put it in the for sale section for £40 or decent offers.
all the best

I braced both bosses using a brake booster. Fit the arm, then using longer bolts placed a booster over the top. Or it might have been the other way around
Found a pic, and as you can see also allowed somewhere else to ziptie the hose onto. I also was able to place a third mount at the top thanks to the stay wishbone boss, which i think gave it more than adequate support Dyna's%20sale%2020%2012%2009%20034%20(Large).jpg

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies, the rear brake is not my main point of interest as most power will be drawn in the front and the fork is incompatible. I'm just going to stick to a period correct build as this is a bit astray from what I had hoped.
