Device to secure chain?

I've lost the device I used to use to secure the chain when the rear wheel was removed from those of my bikes that lack a peg on the seat stay but can't remember what the damned things are called or where I got the original from. The device in question is slipped over the chain from the inside then hooked over the dropout, holding the chain in tension when the rear wheel is removed. I used to use it when transporting the bike to stop the chain from slapping against the chainstay. Anyone help with a source?

The device for holding a chain in place is called a chain holder :D

You can buy them anywhere i.e. Even amazon sell them

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Super-Chain-Ke ... ain+holder

That looks like it will do the job but it's nowt like the one I had! The Amazon one looks like you would have to get the rear wheel out before you can fit it, my old one had no moving parts and you slipped it inside the chain while the wheel was in place, pulled it back to clear the cassette and then slipped it over the dropout. You could then take the wheel out and the chain would stay in place. Neat design, wish I could find the bloody thing!

Re:

Maybe pop a p clamp onto your seat stay and hang the chain on this or draw up the one you had and someone clever here will make it :D

Re:

You used to be able to get a plastic clip that snapped around the seat stay. It had a hook that held the chain just like the built in ones but better.

Sounds like a Campagnolo Portacatena chain holder that you're describing, does that ring any bells?
