Decent 26" rigid forks?

So in answer to my own question.....NO. .....nobody makes a good quality 26" unicrown mountain bike fork any longer.....

And why would they, when the industry now puts 26" as children's bikes or for those under 5'5". Which is also a bit sexist, as it assumes a shorter woman won't be a good rider and therefore won't need a decent bike!

Yep it's infuriating, the 2nd hand market is littered with 26" bikes with crap or broken suspension forks and the options for replacing them with a decent rigid fork are so limited. Especially if you're over 6ft.

I think i might have to bite the bullet and get a custom set made.....as im just not done with 26" yet!

All my kit is canti /26" and as an older xc rider, cant see any benefit in 29" for me, including out laying £3000 to get a bike that even passes as reasonable quality......probably more like £5000 from what I've seen.

If theres a frame builder out there who wants to build a batch of 10 standard 26" ahead 11/8" forks, im sure retrobikers will snap them up!

Off the shelf?

Carver -- supposedly a P2 clone, they say it's chromoly. I plan to buy one soon, I'll review here if that would help
Dimension -- all things considered if I were going with this design I'd prefer vintage but hear what you're saying about steerer tube. At least it's not hideously ugly

As for reasonably priced custom, Marino looks very interesting, I've been in touch with them and they seem really nice

Been over these earlier, sadly, marino is us based, but uk custom is certainly an option.

Dimensios is basically the same as the oxford / xlc etc, not for off road use.

Carver, is not available in the uk.

DM me. I’d happily build a batch for the forum.

I would like steel canti forks that fit 26x2.2, with minimal clearance, that have straight legs that taper to be nice and thin at the dropout, and have an A2C more in the road category. Also must weigh in at sub 800grams. 750 would be nice.

Q. can the tops of fork legs be massaged the same as chainstays for tyre clearance? Am sure i have seen it done.
