de-FUNK-ed

Retro Newbie
Hi there!!

Fairly new to this forum so thought I'd post up some pics of my FUNK I've owned since the mid 90s after I bought it from an old clubmate when he got sponsered by Volvo/Cannondale and didn't need it anymore.

I was going to sell it but after trying to clean it up a bit I've noticed a couple of cracks I guess I must have caused over the years! Oops! :(

Anyway...... Here's some pics of it

I like it! Where are the cracks Dave?

& if you want you move it on I'll throw some £s your way!

yes please do tell where these cracks are. i've recently picked up a frame which needs to the paint stripped off it. i'd like to know where to look for problems.

Sorry for the delay in pics, I don't get on my home PC too often

Here are the pics of the cracks:

Underside of downtube at stemtube weld
(Could have been welded before maybe?????? - Not under my ownership BTW)

Crack between elevated chainstay tube and weld from tube crossing to join the seatpost (on left side)
P.S. bike is inverted in the shot

Also inch long crack around weld at top of right leg on the forks (thought I'd taken pic but can't find it now!?!)

Could be welded fairly easy I guess as it's bare ally. I just can't be bothered as I'm not going to be riding it in anger again.

I was hoping to sell it as the complete bike to get a good wedge to help me afford getting a new one to get back into biking again.

So YES Mr Tc I could be interested in selling it but I'd still want a kinda reasonable amount for it as I'm not desperate to sell as I do have a bit of an attachment to it after near on 20 years of ownership.
Feel free to lob me a PM of an offer if you wish..... ;)

A mere flesh wound.

Lou on here (lou74) has the Funk below. Cracked and repaired a number of times. I reckon it will outlive us all

My default on the repair of alloy is don't but Funk's do seem to be the exception ........

Interesting read here on alloy repair >>

Lovely bike. If you are going to sell it however please place an ad in the appropriate for sale section with a firm price as per the house rules. Thanks
