Cycling The Ridgeway - Then and Now?

And from January 2009, heading eastwards on a hard frost covered Ridgeway between the A338 and B4494 . I probably only stopped to take the picture whilst putting on more layers, from memory it was a deeply cold morning.

Another photo on a winter's theme, but this time from the Chilterns end of the Ridgeway near Wendover in late December 1984.



This illustrates the different nature of the Ridgeway as it passes through the Chiltern woodland.

This was taken at a time when three of the world's off-road cycling traditions came together in one place. So a rough stuff bike to left of frame, a Cleland Aventura from the British 'Tracker' tradition to the right, and probably taken by someone riding a US mountain bike.

Some summer pictures taken around Uffington castle. Creeping into the RHS of the picture is the White Horse which I've read variously as being between 3 and 5 thousand years old. It can only be seen in it's entirety from the air.
The topped off cone you can see above my top tube is where St George is said to have slain the dragon and because its blood ran into the ground nothing will grow there.
