"In Pursuit of Stardom: Los Nomades du Velo Anglais" by Tony Hewson.

A really good memoir of the early English 'privateers' who went to France in the 1950s to compete in Road Races over there.

Fascinating and hilarious in parts, possibly one of the best cycling books I've ever read.

Had a couple of those books as I was growing up in the late 70s / early 80s.

Last night I finished "Racing Through the Dark" by David Millar. It is the first biography/exposé I've ever read and I really enjoyed it.

That sounds like an excellent book and probably a good backdrop to 'Put me back on my bike', the Tom Simpson book by Will Fotheringham.
