On the 14th March, Simon Curtis (a very good friend of mine) sets out on a round Britain coastal challenge raising money for Ovarian Cancer Research.
Simon is not an ex-pro/elite racer or cat 1 roadie, he's just an average bloke who has decided to try and raise a bit of money for this charity after the tragic loss of his mother to this very diease.

The ride is called 'Cycle the Lights' as he is going via lighthouses - there is a list of the ones he's visiting on his website: http://www.cyclethelights.co.uk/ -- total distance is expected to be 6000+ miles.

There will be a live map on the website showing where he actually is in real time.
So if anyone has a spare hour, day or even a cup of tea then look out for him. I know he would appreciate a bit of company so if anyone on here that lives in a coastal location and fancies a bit of a ride out then look up his location on the map and tag along for a while. He's also running a Twitter page.

Well, it all started this morning at 9am.
30ish riders bathed in glorious sunshine rolled out of Dartmouth under police escort.
First lighthouse was 'Start Point' - lunch in Salcombe and the day finished in Brixton (Outskirts of Plymouth, not London! )
Total distance for the first day was 44 miles with a 'leg sapping' 5193 feet of climbing.
Simon's GPS plotter should be active on his website tomorrow which should give a live plot of where he is.
There is now also a Facebook page.

Well it all finished at 4pm on Sunday 4th July right where it started, back at Alf's in Dartmouth.

This was a monumental effort from someone who wasn't a keen cyclist but undeterred Simon Curtis has successfully circumnavigated the coastline of this 'island'!

Many thanks to all those that have supported and followed him.
