Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try with grease and see how I get on.

Torque settings are useful - I normally just go with b*stard tight, but a little accuracy won't go amiss!

Grease the splines.
Grease the crank/spider interface.
Grease the spider/ chainring interfaces.
Grease pedal/ crank interfaces.
Grease BB threads
Use steel chainring bolts.
Copperslip would do

Would have been far quicker to just type 'grease everything' :p

Yup, brake pads. Always grease your brake pads :?  ;)

what kind of frame are you running? sometimes the bottom bracket will creak in an aluminum frame, which can be corrected by pulling the b/b, using teflon plumber's tape on the threads and re-installing

Klein Adroit Race from 2000. BB is fine - I tried an old set of cranks and it's creak free. I'll remember that tip though.

That's like me standing on the socket wrench!

It's not as tight as you would think ...

350 (in-lb) = 29.2 (ft-lbs) = 39.5 (Nm)

WD :D

Thanks for clarifying that WD. For a minute I thought they were supposed to be tightened more than car wheel bolts at 120Nm
