Hope someone can point me in the right direction!

Girlfriend and I are planning on going down to Cornwall in August, and was looking for some local guidance on where's good to ride?

Really looking for off road stuff that takes in some of the coast.

We planning on touring around a bit so location isn't majorly important, though we both enjoy nice fast single track and don't mind hills too much!

Cheers,

Andy

Cornwall has a bit to offer, the south west coast path is fairly bike friendly if you ignore the signs:)

United mines (off the bissoe trail/tramways between Bissoe and Portreath) is great fun, huge open pits which used to be arsenic mines, bit of singletrack, really good fun in the dry! Pretty stony singletrack leading down to a pond, like an alpine pass. Easy to land in the drink!
The trail leads to Portreath (where theres a big track full of jumps and a foam pit) and that's right on the sea. Couple of pubs, really good chinese. From there the north coast is at your disposal to explore as you wish:)

Have a good time...

To tell the truth we couldn't find much last year but get in touch with these guys maybe someone can help

unless you fancy a days flat riding avoid the Camel trail. my wife managed the full length (out and back) after 3 years off the bike!

Just posting to keep a nosey on this topic. I'm getting married down there next week and we are taking the bikes on honeymoon down there

Thanks for the replies! I think I may seen the mines on a program on TV. I'll have to look into them though as they sound like the thing I'm after!

Anymore from anyone else?

Thanks again

Top tip

Ride a tandem out of St Austell on the A30 before you marry. If you are still talking after that then it's meant to be!

err yer  its a bit flat !!! like all the bloody way !!!
but it does end up in "rick steins" village .... loads of good seafood and also some nice pubs.
as previously mentioned the "bissoe" trail ends up in portreath on the north coast. its a really nice ride.. ther are a few different ways on the ride you can go at the bissoe end.. a few small loops etc... the mine shafts are worth checking out.
there is a ride called the great flat lode... this is located in the camborne and redruth area, the views on the right day are nice !!! it follows the tin mines around a large hill.. you can ride to the top and on the right day you can see both coasts !!.
there is a nice little trail at the bottom of st-austell (kings woods) this goes to a nice little seaside village with a pub.
it depends which part of cornwall you are in ?
most of the actual coastal paths are footpaths so you arnt really allowed to ride them ...
cheers andy :)
