Coolwall Nov 2010 - Campagnolo MTB groupsets

Next up on the coolwall we have an Italian brand whose roots pre date the sport of Mountain Biking. Campagnolo was founded by Tullio Campagnolo in 1933 in a Vicenza workshop.

Up for the vote is the Campagnolo MTB groupsets. Do the chunky looks and Italian heritage make up for the fact the parts had a less than stellar reputation and ultimately Campag withdrew from the MTB market?

Who cares whether it worked.

I mean look at it... just look at it:-

How could that not be cool?

Wasn't XTR a response to the beauty of Campag's kit? Maybe, there would have been no real reason to go to 11 with XTR over XT, had Campagnolo not produced these beautiful looking groupsets.

Cool without doubt. It may be poor in performance but I can't help wanting some.

Campag wears in, Shimano wears out.

Although I have realized I only run Shimano.
