Its crazy I have a fleet of cool rough and tumble shiney bikes with attitude and flair.

But the one I use every day is an anonymous satin black revolution Courier race. Its lightly pimped with better brakes, control points and single speed though.

I bought it when I was doing a 8 mile roundtrip on a too small retro Raleigh Apex. it was a good solution at the time; light, big frame big wheels and MTB alike characteristics.

What i like about it is on the flip side, i don't care too much about it getting mucky and potentially stolen :-/ . A-B. ;) takes up space though ;)

Now I do 1.2 mile each way, and a trip at dinner (hmm still 5mile) I don't even need it but the mudguards keep my work clobber dry, and the big wheels and lightish weight only take minimal effort. occasionals are trips to town, or shopping. I don't tend to use it for fun. It likes straight flat roads fast.

Whats the prob? well there isn't one except I have become a bike snob/2 wheel pimper, keen on minimalism, style, and fast but non bone shaking performance.

Theres loads of those fashionable fixies and SS bikes in Manchester whizzing about, I quite like what I see apart from the 'scene' :D I like the idea of something chuckable but not twitchy.

I know noting about road bikes though, materials, geometry, etc etc, and where poss I like a non road short cut, so I was thinking something fast on the road easy get up to speed, fun to ride, and someting a little bit 29ery

Moon on a stick. maybe?

Now its summer I might get the BMX back out for now but doesn't stop me looking and pondering future upgrades does it? :D

I spotted this which should be good, high price for leaving locked up a lot of the time and would need to build it up myself to save monies, or of course the full bike on cycle scheme (and big phat lock). First thing I have seen which ticks a couple boxes.

Any ideas for the pot? :)

Will prompt a go on my mates Giant roadie and his new carbon fibre posh thing before moves away too.

For a commuter you need something with mudguards.

Agreed, loads of people don't though, but i don't mind a little rain just not all the crap slattering head to toe.

Its interesting seeing loads of different 'solutions' to peoples transport round here, just at dinner i saw a neat white brakeless skinny bar'd fixie, and then a 'girl next door' on some 50/60's (?) big old cruiser with rod brakes.

I have one of those Subways, the disk only option - so damn rigid it was uncomfortable.

It sitting as a frame only at the back of the garage

My purpose built commuter was a GT frame, cable disk and drops.

Here's mine:

Of course, I'm fat and slow. But precious few mountain bikes could keep pace with one of these. Plus you can change gears at the lights.

I took it into a bike shop today, and the guy said "That brought a smile to my face". How's that for a compliment?
