Cook Bros Cranks identification.

Hi all.

Can anyone help me with identifying some Cook Bros cranks. Im having trouble fitting them to a build and i think we have the wrong bb spindle.

So they look like CBR cranks, but there is no cut out on the back. Could these be earlier ones? The only reference to earlier ones i have seen is in the Klein tech manual. It lets Cook 1992, Cooks CBR, Cooks RSR and Cooks E.

Its important because i set the frame up (1995 Attitude) with a spindle for the Cook Bros CBR cranksets but am now having trouble with clearances.

any help please?

they're either original cook bros, or cook bros CBR. you'll need a cook bros axle as the angle of the taper is much lower, meaning a longer flatter taper. the RSRs look similiar from the outside, but are heavily recessed on the inner faces

^^ Exactly. I had these on a late 80s FAT which needed a 130mm ISO taper axle for clearance. Always preferred the RSRs though.

Just want to add.. Those are wayyyy too old for a 1995 build. HTH.

Iirc the 1st GEN CBR ATB triple cranks (not BMX type or with conversion) came out in ~ 83, these look 2nd Gen mid 80s and were a pita and a bit too flexy from memory. RSRs by comparison are perfect, got lots of sets on various builds, love em.
