I don't think an interest in retro means you can't have anything modern. However selling all your old stuff leaving only a solitary Lavadome is surely going too far :cry:

I'm going modern on a retro (ish) frame, a '98 Clockwork

The build was all down to which forks I was going to use & I have now got a modern fork coming for the bike, which has some modern & some retro stuff on it already, so I broke into the spares cabinet & stuck modern Sram X9 & Sram X7 on it as well

My other bikes are a 5" full susser (modern) & a 1980 Falcon road bike with flat bars.

Am I a retro Black Sheep :?:

I'm going the other way and putting older bits on my 2009 Kinesis Decade Virtue. Hope XC hubs on D521 rims, old Pace RC31 etc ...

I agree I just like bikes!

The equation of n+1 still rings true when anyone asks how many bikes should you own, so just one retro bike may not be enough...

Chris Hughes, hehe! I love those Hope XC hubs, had a set of Mavic X317's laced to XC hubs, till some tea leaf nicked the bike they were on

Thanks Andy i'm still to find a front silver Hope hub to build onto the rim ive already got so the bike looks a bit odd at the mo as its got an old black Rockhopper wheel on it at the mo!

I too have sinned. After a winter of kidding myself that I don't mind rubbish brakes and tyres I have been compelled to sin.
I'm building up another Yo Eddy but with 80mm fork, modern 2.3 tyres and disc brakes. It needs a new seat tube too so it's getting a forward facing slot to keep the shit out while I'm at it.
Some more modern bit will probably end up in the mix but as long as it rides like a Yo i dont give a shit. Wow, a Yo that stops!
