Been dabbling with the idea of a road specific bike.

Problem is I don’t think I have room in the stable for one………

My current “road” bike is my Kili (now with a Flite ;) )

Any suggestions of making it more road friendly?

Also show us your commute bikes

Thanks,

Mark

Drop bars? Or at the very least bar ends to get a bit more flat-back and aero...

Here's my 1990 Marin...purists may shudder

Honest advise, if you dont intend on doing off road stuff on it, sell it and buy a road bike.

IMO MTB's for the rough stuff, road bikes for the smooth stuff.

Just my opinion mind.......

Fair point.

The only times I've ridden a road bike i've ridden it like a mtb (read heavy handed  )

so thats why i would like to compromise and adapt the Kili above

I had the same dilemma, but because my sholder back and neck won't let me ride a road bike due to the geometry and drop bars i went for a StumpJumper. It's got slicks, and all the other bits needed, all I am going to try to relax the riding position a little for on road is change the straight bars for risers or keep the straights and get some bar ends as suggested.

Although as Pickle suggested, get a road bike (or other 700c wheeled bike if you can ride one!)

Heres mine

Ran a converted mtb for years and reckon dependent on type of commute they can be a benefit for instance in the city the heads up position is great in traffic. Best upgrades were slick tyres, used a crud catcher and a blackburn mountain rack to keep the rain off, a close ratio block gave more usable gears and prefered narrow flats and barends to wider risers. Have a future project in mind of a converted GT like LGF's able to go off road now and then to mix up the commute.

WHO'S is the mahoosive picture? come on own up. I'm looking at you Hamster
