Clueless and in need of help

Hi all

First time posting here. My uncle passed away recently and I have he come the owner of the attached bike. I have no idea what this is and how much it is worth. It’s in really good condition with the odd slight mark. I’ve tried searching the internet and had no luck. My Uncle used to say how expensive this bike was but not sure if he was just talking a good talk.

Serial number is AM03002178

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for your loss firstly …. In terms of value .. well it’s worth very little. Probably worth more to someone in the family to keep and use a little maybe

Thank you 😊
I would keep it but with times being rather hard was looking to see if It would be worth my while selling. He used to say that it was worth we’ll over 1k but as you do with family and the fact I know nothing i just humoured him. Bless him.

I too had an Uncle who always referred to the couple of bikes he had in the shed as being some sort of nest egg. I knew enough to know they weren’t but never called him out on it. It’s nice that if he did really think that that your Uncle chose to leave it to you.

On this site you’re not going to get much interest as it’s not really old enough nor would it have any sort of following.

It is what looks like a good condition rideable machine. A quick look on eBay and you’ll find that Barracuda bikes of all types sell for anything between £10 and £150, the higher end of that tending to have disc brakes or be a road bike. They aren’t the best quality but if you need the cash probably best shifting it on gumtree or Facebook to someone local to you who needs a bike for the normal reasons like transport - not for the reasons you find on here which are too numerous to list! The higher you price it the longer the wait to sell! Best of luck.

unfortunately it’s value has never seen anywhere near £1k so likely in jest I’d guess

In terms of value it’s likely around the value of a meal out. Ideal for someone who just needs a bike to use so try Facebook or gumtree but if it has 3 digits in the price expect a long wait

In terms of value to me - priceless! Old thread but thanks for posting the serial number. It could be very useful indeed.

There was a time, approximately when full sus hit the mainstream & all the kids were asking for them at christmas, 1997 I think it was. Barracuda seemed to be all that the kids were asking for, we didn't sell them but i swear if I had a £pound for every person that asked for a Barracuda, I'd have a fair few more pounds than I do now. They sold like hot-cakes.
The one in the pics is certainly 'budget' going by the quality of componentry on it. 25 years too late I'm afraid.
