I assume you are referencing particular threads rojo and I am sure baiting does happen but I also think some people are simply misunderstood. I have seem a few threads where the o.p. is clearly having a mess around nut veryfew people get it.
Sarcasm is pretty difficult to detect on forums too. And some people just enjoy a bit of an argument. You can disagree with a friend face to face without getting too upset but online there is a tendency for people to take offence quickly.

No, to be fair this is a General and off topic forum which means exactly what it says on the tin, the bike stuff can be found in other parts of the website, unless of course general and off topic is a secret code for bicycles.

As to myself not starting threads on bicycles, you might find in the relevant sections I have, not recently I admit, but I have not touched the thing since I got it back.

But as to performance on this website, hey, I have to live with myself and I am only too aware of what I written here and I agree I have not been very good, but the only way is up.

As long as people remember this... we'll all rub along just fine. That said I've had many laugh out loud moments from what people have written on this forum!

We a disparate lot rich and poor challenged and unchallenged the only thing we have in common is a liking for old bikes, but even with that there is snobbery involved so we are very dissimilar, but our challenge if we desire communication is to communicate, but a pity some it seems it is sport to them to do their best to wind others up. Whether this is an ego polishing exercise or what I don't know, but there are many on here who are worthy of communication and a few who are not. There is of course those who are in between, the enigmas who I personally withhold judgement on until I know better, but the bad eggs I have no wish at all to meet and with some it is highly unlikely given their location.

As to my past, I am constantly aware my past is not good, so I use my past to try to be better as it is I try to learn by my mistakes as my interest is being the best I can be to myself and others, others that are worthy of civil communication that is.

Stop being so up yourself.

You are no more than anyone else, and no one is worse or better than you.

Stop using this forum as your blog of misery and stop pretending you are being oppressed here.

highlandsflyer, sometimes I really don't get you at all - you're often the first to whinge about people supposedly going ad hominem, but overnight you seem to have gone out of your way to repeatedly have a pop at silverclaws.

I get some people probably don't like him, maybe find him tedious, and dislike the types of things he posts - but then one man's tedious is another's empathy.

If you were shooting for moral high-ground, you failed spectactularly, and maybe should take a moment to consider if you're not also behaving in a similar fashion to what you want to seemingly protest about.

Whether people court negative responses, or otherwise, one thing is constant - redundant discussion fails on lack of interest. Seeing those that purport to be strong, in control, and seemingly psychologically balanced, foisting their "zero-defect" perspective on the discussions of others, is merely a baby-step away from clique-ism, elitism and bullying.

And that's not me being over-dramatic. If you thought what certain members were saying is either (or all of) baiting, neediness, pointless waffle, purely argumentative, all the dissenters need do for it to die, being to ignore it - yet many choose not to, but go the other way with the finger pointing and thinly veiled derision. Here's a question - who's that really for?
