cleaning up chrome forks

What's the best way to clean up chrome forks? There's some surface rust and light pitting, especially around the underside of the crown. Thanks for any helpful tips.

Ink erasers are good at removing the spots too.

There was a fantastic thread on one of the BMX forums showing what a turnaround can be made with tired chrome if you know what to do. Might even have been done by Bendy, the BMX mod on here.

If I can remember where I saw it I will post it up, failing that, a PM to Bendycat eleventeen would probably harbour a good result.
