Hi buck fast, that has come up great. I am doing a similar project but being the masochist I am, I hand sanded mine to bare metal! There was some logic in that mine has chrome stays and I didn't know if nitromors would damage chrome.
I am a couple of stages ahead. I used 80 grit to give a good key for the etch primer. Then laid on as many coates as reasonable whilst keeping the lug definition (too heavy with the paint depth and it will look 'resprayed'. After primer had dried ( I left mine a week) used 800and 1200 grit finally with 2000 grit before starting with top coats. Top coats on and then sanded using very fine grade between coats.
I am sure there are others more qualified than me though..
I am sure the drop out will be fine
