Before the mods move this, I wonder whether anyone has recollections of Steve Peat riding in retro times. He's certainly a retro rider, even if he wasn't riding a retro bike!

he used to ride with a group of lads in Grenoside Woods in the late 80's. He was just starting to race XC and was well regarded even then. I knew some of the lads he used to ride with but don't recall meeting him personally.

I remember him at Chedder on the new idrive downhill bike .... Think it was a prototype at the time, creamed the field if only I hadnt crashed sure I would of beat him!! ha.ha

I got him to sign my issue 1 of Dirt magazine at a bike show (bike 99 maybe?)... now I wonder where the hell that has gone

I remember a video I saw with him riding singletrak DH on a GT LTS with red Rockshox DH forks and onza canti brakes. No idea what the vid was called tho.

i used to race against him in the early days at the NEMBA's and BMBF's , usually leaving me for dust . he was a bloody good XC rider before he shot to stardom in Downhill and has been at head of the pack ever since . he has the all time record of world cup wins which is 18 i think ? and i think iv'e seen that he's recognised as britain's most succesful cyclist .
