This could open a can of worms, or even cause some heated debate, but....

Has anyone been stopped and questioned by the Police when outside away from home? Where in the country were you? Were you walking, in a car, on a motorbike, on a road bike, on a mountain bike either on a track, cycle path, pavement or road.

What did they say, and was any action taken? I think that covers everything.

We do daily cycling locally.
Then we do deliver some supplies to a couple, actually very good friends, the man is a double transplant and they live out in the country and rely on us.
We don't take the piss, we have been going weekly.
Actually 10 days from the last time.
That's around a 37 mile round trip.
Have been shopping, it's not a busy area here tbh.

But, no we haven't been stopped and asked what we are doing.

Re:

I’ve been asked a couple of times where I’m heading whilst out riding by police. However I’ve been out quite a bit so maybe not a normal example.

I’ve barely used the car other than locally and both motorbikes are sorn still.

No, i have personally not been stopped by the police while out, either walking on mtb or on my motorcycle.

A point to note is that no laws have been passed to stop anyone going out for any reason. The only law that is present is one of endagering others, the exact law i cant remember, all of the current conditions quoted by the media are guidellines. There for example is now law to stop you going out for a drive, or ride, as long as you do not kiss or high 5 everyone you meet on the journey. Of course, nowadays most police officers have no sense of humour and im sure if you started to challenge them even stopping you, they would soon find something wrong with your car or bike, of course they have been told not to take people into custody for minor offences but they are more about generating revenue than serving.

I think if you respect others and keep distance then there is little reason to be stopped, well apart from the roads are emptier and out on my bike the other day i may have sllightly nudged over the limit

Are we talking pre or post lockdown?

I’d like to think that some of us had and retain a sense of humour.

And the revenue argument is equally specious.

Yes sorry, was a bit vague and could easily be a whole debate of its own.

I do know some very honest police officers who do their job to help others, and all officers are as human as the rest of us, they are not unique on this corrupted earth. Also i feel the revenue side is somewhat forced onto them, again, the state of the world we live in.

I'm talking post lockdown Alasdair - although if anyone does have anecdotes to share with a slight nudge to the song in the title, then please do start your own thread on the subject

It's people who don't listen to the rules that will mess it up for everyone.
People still meeting in groups and going on road trips.
Hopefully they will only sort out them individuals or the counties where they are not listening.
Around here it's fairly sensible still and people are actually listening.

Yep. If Greater Manchester Police have had to stop 660 parties (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-m ... r-52221688) it's understandable if they feel a bit grumpy with Joe Public. I just hope the fitness rides don't get banned.
