"Casino" Cougar

Another 4 months on and I finally got round to cabling this up and getting it ready to test ride!

Just need it to stop pissing down so that I can put it back in the workshop and finish it off completely with new hoods, bottle cages and appropriately trimmed cables

Once it's on the road, I might tweak the finishing kit...

The pedals are a great tonal match for the bright greeny-yellow of the paintwork

But the tyres are almost orange by comparison... They might however, be perfect for the Rabobank version of this frameset which is patiently waiting in the wings.

If anyone knows of any brighter yellow tyres, please let me know

Love the top tube paintwork...

Started a refurb on a Raleigh Europa for a neighbour today while I wait for lemony yellow tyres to arrive.

Might get out for a test ride tomorrow... should be fun trying to use Look pedals for the first time in about 12 years

Re:

Just in case I wreck it, and myself, here's how it looks pre test ride.

Hutchinson Atom tyres still on the way... Hopefully suitably lemony.

What a beautiful bike this is to ride.

Only did 10 miles, but my love affair with my Reynolds 653 Cougars may just about to be eclipsed by this one.

Just as well I took some pics before I left... I very, very, VERY nearly came a cropper at the first junction because some idiot didn't check the release tension on the pedals.

Being used to Crank Bros pedals, a Look Delta dialled up to maximum tension is just ever so slightly scary when you're at stalling speed!

Re:

Fully built, as pictured, she weighs in at 9.5 kg.

The wheels fitted are among my lightest, but I have a set of 32h Chorus hubs and Excellight rims to build which should only add 250-300g but allow a bit of security if I decide to take her on an overnighter somewhere.

Finally managed to put in a decent amount of miles on this one... And she is an absolute delight to ride.

I ditched the yellow Look's. I just can't go back to them in a semi-urban setting. Got a pair of reddish Crank Bros Candy for a few quid off eBay and after an overhaul swapped them in. The pinky red tone picks out some of the lining in the paintwork.

It was sunny, but blowing an absolute Hoolie, so I only stopped once to get the last photos of this thread.
