Re:
Been a bit quiet on this build recently due to other commitments and also purely by the fact that pictures of bits being polished 'aint that interesting.
Anyway I can now report I have repacked the steering head and refitted as well as done a good deal of work on the rear wheel and the lovely Resilion hubs. The front wheel may need a visit to the LBS for a little more truing. Both are responding to a mixture of elbow grease and autosol. Sadly I have found the brazed on gear lever fitting has a stripped thread so I might have to use a band on boss instead. The bike is slowly coming together but still needs a lot of TLC applied to the frame - Im still removing grease and sticky deposits from mounds of insulating tape applied to make it look better by the previous owner/s.
Here are some pictures of my efforts thus far.
A big spanner always helps...
The GB hiduminium steerer is looking better...
Cleaned the hoods with a mixture of water and Multi surface cleaner with a cloth and brush. Ive swopped them around so the previous scratched out sides now face inwards...
These have been degreased, re-oiled and polished...
I have some red anodised Campag toe clips for these, to keep the red theme going!
I love these old hubs...
They used to be on my 1970 mauve Corsa but were so badly shot I had to scrap them. Shows the Carlton were still using this bits over a long period.
Rear wheel nearly completed. The Dunlop rims just need a final polish now.
Red is my overall colour/theme. Should be pretty eye catching I hope!
