Captain Kirk’s Mag Revolution.. Part II (pg5 back for more)

Re: Captain Kirk’s Mg Revolution...ended with a crack !

is the drop out more complicated than a flat piece of aluminium? If not, then a replacement can be made from some aluminium plate using just hand tools.

Re:

Cheers Mike for posting the link to my wanted post, ^^

The drop out is actually quite elegantly sculptured and the damage too great for a weld

I'm determined to get her back up and running and the last outing not be her swan song

Although it was a great ride if it was !

Re:

Well, like I say, if one person can do it, so can others.

Time to look up some machine shops mate

Re:

Best bet, find a wrecked frame, or a benevolent retrobiker with a dead frame stashed away who's willing to part with the rear mech hanger. But these days the "retro-tax" makes this an increasingly unlikely proposition.
Or... make one, see if the design could be simplified at all, or take it to a machine shop to see if they can do something.

Remember it was only a £45 purchase in the first place though!

Hey tall boy

I paid £45 for the rig....not Klein prices,
By the time someone had all the CNC data and cut me a new one I'd be into a bill looking like a telephone number
And a cast one (I'm guessing) wouldn't be any cheaper.

Down to lady luck on here, good old ebay search of a donar

I replied to your other thread, but why not see if there's a fab lab near you?

http://fablabs.io

My local one would certainly be able to CNC a replacement with the right data.

Re:

Mate of mine just paid £100 plus £25 postage for a Klein. The whole bike!

If the frames are that crap, I could keep a monkey wrench in the lorry, and break a stay off if I see one around town!
Well, there's all manner of detritis in Brighton!

Re: Captain Kirk’s Mg Revolution...ended with a crack !

After seeing the part in tjr link, tjere are 3 levels to it,

Is the top level, the thin curved section important? (Can you post photo of tje other side)

Of not, then it could be made from two pieces and bolted together,

Re:

Unless I can get NOS parts from the guy who runs the Kirk appreciation website I think Splatter-Paints probably right with
buying a bike to rob and he outted this

Whole bike: eBay item 232193607087 ??

I think going down the donar route will be my cheapest option and whilst the last thing I need/want is another bike,
it would give me a spare front and rear mech hangers along with a spare N/D/S drop out (assuming they are all good)

Shame this one is as tatty as it is, and in Boston, especially for the starting price. (twice what I paid for mine) and this ones wearing a 200GS rear mech

thanks guys for your help/suggestions so far
