Cantilever -> V Brake cable routing

You can use a shimano step- down ferrule into the enlarged exit hole in the dog collar,

That's what I did on my ti Kona when I rest-modded it to work with V brakes. I think it was an Avid one that came in a cable kit some years back, and I recall enlarging the exit hole in the dog collar a little to make it fit.

Otherwise, for something like a Lava Dome, I'd silver braze a cable stop in place and call it future proofing.

Had a similar issue with my Klein Pinnacle and the internal routing going to the rear brake. I used a Tektro seat binder cable stop from eBay and super noodles. Would have loved something more elegant but the tubing was too larger for any of the clamp-on cable stop solutions.

That's genius. I was trying to think of a way to use that type of cable hanger to make it work but I didn't think of using it that way. I'm not sure if it would work on the Kona. The brake cable would sit high off of the top tube.

Yeah the seat tube on this frame is tall as well. I tried a few different clamp-on cable stop solutions but most are designed for older steel tube diameters. I tried a lot of different solutions and this has been the best so far. Some others I looked at were a damper support for a motorcycle and some reducing nuts for a makeshift housing stop but the clamp stuck out way too much. I also tried bolt on BMX cable stops on the rear rack mount, but the brake force kept loosening the bolt over time. The stick on stops will just fly off. Full housing is the best option, but I agree it looks bad. If I had a steel frame I would have just welded a stop on, but alas…

If you come up with something better, let us all know! I've noticed some drag on the cable where it exits the rear internal frame port, but it's got a liner on it. I'll probably need to replace the liner at some point, but this bike is just for tooling around the neighborhood.

Super neat! Will have a look at this. Think I'm just going to drill out my dog collar off of my Hahanna and try insert one of those ferrules into it that @bikeworkshop suggested. I do have a 3D printer so I could perhaps design something, but I don't think plastic will hold up that well.
