Hybrids were mostly considered a bit naff in the early 90s and those that would buy would only spend £350 max. London's couriers wouldn't be seen dead on one. MTBs with super skinny tyres running insane psi were the city dogs back then. They seemed popular on the continent, especially in Germany.

Well, I drove up to see Mr Fribble this afternoon, and picked up his 1994 H800. :cool:

It's not mint, but it's in very nice used condition and very original. (Apart from the front brakes and the tyres.)

Here's a picture after I pumped the tyres but before cleaning.



I'll start a build thread over the weekend, I think this is going to be a great daily ride.

I have just started my build and has turned out different to planned due to new stem but starting to like new look will get some photos up soon as well

Yours looks great, some more pics would be awesome.

I think initially, I'm not going to tinker with mine beyond cleaning and servicing and adding a rack. The saddle may have to come off as it looks too wide for me.
 
Recently I got this 1991 C'dale SH 600 via eBay (Kleinanzeigen ~ local ads ). Except of loose cable guides it was in good shape and stock condition.
It rides very smoothly, just love it, but am not sure what to do. Actually I bought it to convert it to a gravel bike, but now I'm thinking to keep it original. Already changed the tires and brake pads.
What do you think?

I'd keep it original as long as you find it comfortable for use, it's a really nice looking bike and looks very low-milage!

I run an M400 as my commuter, basically the geometry has been "converted" to H-series spec (bars level with seat, shorter stem, road tyres, mudguards). It's a faithful bike and comfortable enough for long jaunts.

Nice bike and nice color!
What's funny is that I used a M500 as my commuter bike until I got the SH600.

About the SH 600: a bit awkward is the upright stem. Riding position is very comfortable though it looks a bit "uncool". Next week I'll take that bike on a three day trip. After that I'll know more I guess.

Two years later, just like the last post, makes sense to keep it going a bit...?

Just got a H500, had a T700 for a bit but it was too big.
Planning a restomod, have most of the parts, have to see what happens on the others.

The pic is the sellers, the seat is hilarious!
Oddly it's kinda comfortable, but I just can't leave it on there.
