Can I fit V-brakes to my 1993 Saracen?

Well I only ordered them yesterday, but today the postman rang the doorbell and...

:D

Time to track down levers and shifters...

[Edit: Got the levers, now just need the shifters]

What can I say RockiMtn? ...You're absolutely right.

It was a spontaneous thing. I was just browsing eBay, and checking out the prices of the Acera V-brakes . Then I spot some Deores that are just a few pounds more -- and the next thing I know, I'm clicking "Buy it now"....

 yeah impulse buys always make you wonder where your head was 5 seconds later. i've been guilty of that with bike related purchase lately.

Well I've fitted them. Here's the front: 1993 Altus A20 levers connected to 2009 Deore V-brakes...

The cable routing for the rear brake is a little bit unconventional...

But it ends up on the correct side for the noodle on the rear brake...

I went out with them yesterday for the first time (hence the mud) and they were fantastic -- so much better than cantis! I wish I'd switched to V-brakes at the beginning of the summer...

the v's look to go with the front very well.

one thing, usually the right brake lever goes with the back brakes, and the left lever goes to the front. i think that would take the awkward cabling you have going on there.

unless of course you're use to the way your lever/brake setup is setup at the moment. :?

Not in the UK, right lever is always front brake, the same way round as motorbikes, i don't know why the rest of the world has them the other way :?

My brothers friend bought a bike in France when they were working out there, fell off straight away because the brakes were wrong way round

don't get me started...
We have them the same way as motorbikes, so makes sence :p

And if you start on the driving thing, you'll find all the world used to be on the left before napolian changed it in europe and the US changed it to spite the brits.

:p :D
