Can I buy modern wheels for my retro bike?

£200 is likely more than the bike is worth........I'd be tempted to sell the bike, add it to the £200 you already have and buy something better ?

When I was browsing the Chain Reaction cycles site recently I did notice that they are selling some NOS Shimano RSX rear hubs that use cassettes and are 126mm wide, so you could get one of them made up into a rear wheel. Of course you would still need to source a front wheel...
