CAMPAGNOLO RECORD OR/ICARUS/CENTAUR

You are absolutely correct. Not many folk understand the adjustment cap/nut feature on the early Record OR brakes (later versions were essentially the Icarus design with its conventional pivot). The cap very precisely screws up against the brake arm providing a stable support - this allows just the thin arm to pivot on its bearing, rather than requiring a wide bushing to stabilise it like all other brakes.
It’s a clever, unique system as you say, and reduces friction in the pivot by supporting the arm front and rear.

👍👍👍
Actually it’s hard to understand unless you hold a set of these in your own hands or you‘r even more lucky and get a set inclusive the instruction sheet.
I just got my hands on a complete set 92/93 brakes (there are minimal differences between 92 and 93 such as silver vs black pivot bolt and one washer on the pad clamping unit is different…) and another set that is missing one fixing bolt and three of the washers that go between the brake and the brake stud… I might complete it with custom parts or just use it as spares.
I used Graftons back then and have a set of Criticals… but the Record brakes are really different and outstanding. Never used them but they seem very well constructed.
I really didn’t expect someone would answer 😂😂😂
