Camelbak advise please

+1 for a M.U.L.E and their machine washable stuck mine in the machine for the first time after 6 years of use yesterday, well the mrs was away for a couple of night and the machine was empty, was a shame to waste the opportunity

I prefer bottles and hate having stuff on my back.

same here but i can only carry one bottle and that doesnt last very long . £10 for a tesco or lidl its tempting me to go against my hatred for wearing a bag on my back though . it is annoying when the bottle is covered in filth

Ahh,you need another set of bottle mounts The only 'problem' with a decent summer,having to use a camelback!

i have a rouge it holds all i need without being to bulky, dosent have a waist strap which i like but you may want one. theres a lot of army issue ones on ebay!

Source hydration packs are very good, better opening on the bladder than Camelbak's, they have a full width zip top to them which makes then very easy to fill & clean

I have the Source Spinner 2 pro it has enough room for tube, multi tool, tyre levers, cereal bars, pump, a few small spare parts (powerlink, tube patches & glue...) also can cram my soft shell into it too.

For most of my rides I use a Camelbak Blowfish, it's pretty big and can carry a helmet in it if needs be, as well as 3 litres of fluid and all the above stuff in the Spinner Pro plus a shock pump, another tube, chain links & still have more room in it spare!

3 litre Mule for long day rides
3 litre camelbak bladder in a Deuter Bike-1 rucksack for multi-day rides

Haven't tried anything other than Camelbak's so can't comment on other systems, though friends have used the Deuter Streamer packs with much success.

Gave up on a bottle a long way back after loosing too many on rocky rides

Camelbak Rogue is fine for me. If you haven't used Camelbaks before the best advice I can give is to keep the bladder in the fridge when not in use.

I've got an old Lobo for racing and local rides which will take a few tubes and a pump and a North Face Hammerhead pack for longer rides which will take 3 litres and has space for waterproofs, spare kit and serious snackage.

I' have found that my last 2 Camelbak bladders have leaked after a while from the seams (trying to warranty one at the mo) so I'm currently using a Nalgene bladder which seems a bit stronger.

Camelbak Mayhem for me, 3L bladder is big enough for epic rides, plenty of storage so you can whip of your jacket and stash it in the pack, waterproof pocket for phone etc and even an extendable outer pocket that will take your lid...all without being overly bulky.
