I was offered a job there 8 years ago, but didn't take it as I thought I'd miss my family and friends too much.
Now almost every bike I like thats outed on ebay lives there.
I even got as far as looking at property, and all of the ones I looked at had big garages
If only I'd known I'd end up as a lonely bachelor, living in a pokey flat with nowhere near enough room for, or access too, the 80's bikes that would make my life complete. Bugger!

Ah. California.

All the brits I know that lived there made conscious decisions to leave again. One of them, a musician, is now in Brazil and the other, a former male porn actor, is now in Lincolnshire.

So maybe you shouldn't regret it that much.

My ex has lived there for over a decade and seems to love it though.

What 'If' the middle word in life  try again to get there?

I feel for you; similar experience myself back in '95 in that I could have had a job as a photographer on a newspaper for ex-Pat's in Malibu were it not for my EX-wife not wanting to go because she would 'miss her friends...'

Seems to run in the family because my father got a job on a Seattle newspaper back when 'soccer' first took off in the States and they needed a Brit journalist as they knew nothing about it themselves. He had all the resettlement package thrown in, fantastic house, schools sorted out for my brother and I, cars, etc. but when it came down to it my mother wouldn't go...

LOL! I miss my big garage back in California. The one I have here in Germany is more like a walk in closet. My truck will definitely not fit in there so some of my bikes live there. The rest are in my house... yup, another bachelor with a bike problem :D

Someday, I will repatriate back to the Golden State...

yeah i read that the average price was 660k dollars, converted into stirling...thats about enough to buy a semi in london.*

*wouldn't actually know southern house prices.
