Cadex Value ???

Little update…

Quick wipe over, looks quite tidy. Removed the worn foam chain stay protector and picked off some grey paint splats from the frame, chainset and wheels.
Replacement gear cable outer arrived yesterday, so the perished lever to stop section on the rear cable was fitted. Sprayed GT85 on the lever internals for good measure. Took delivery of some cleanish Look Delta 256 pedals yesterday, they need fitting. I have to dig out the Ritchey Comp tyres I have somewhere, I’ll need to fit a new tube on the rear whilst I’m at it. A black Giant Gateway bottle cage is on its way, this will be used with a nice cheap water bottle I received yesterday. IMG_3112.webp IMG_3102.webp IMG_3097.webp

Ritchey tyres found and fitted, I ended up using the 700x25 race slicks. Both valves on the tubes were iffy so I used 2 new tubes too. Thank god for the Banana Industries sales 🤣
I adjusted the brakes and fitted some Odyssey Svelte Sport pedals from another bike for now. The Look pedals need nipping up and I’m waiting on the special tool to be delivered.
I’m all set for a gentle shakedown ride tomorrow or Sunday. The weather looks good for those slicks.
Hopefully I’ll get a few pics to share.

I forgot to mention that the bike came with a Cateye Astrale computer. I popped a new battery in and it seems to be in good working order, all the sensors are in the correct position and it’s giving readings. I’ll leave it hooked up just for curiosity when I get a ride in 👍🏼

The Cadex was given a spin today. I was impressed with the ride, it’s stiff and responsive. The gears seemed to improve after a tweak on the adjuster on the down tube cable stop. I got used to trimming the derailleur’s which made a big difference too. I could have done without the 2 punctures on the ride home. The first was picked up in a patch of road side gravel and probably glass, the second was a pinch flat because I couldn’t get enough pressure in the tyre with the crappy space saving pump I have. I had to avoid a pedestrian in the road, swerved into a pothole. I only took one spare tube but luckily I was only a mile from home, so I pushed the bike home.
