I was/am a bonefide islabike owner but was sourcing stuff for my sons 20in build which wasn't. I ended up buying shimano deore disc brakes on the end as I changed the build to disc brakes. Give them a call and ask, can't do any harm in trying.

Is converting to disk brakes an option? Many disk brake levers are very adjustable, the Clarks Exo claim to be suitable for any hand size. You would need disk tabs and disk compatible wheels of course.

I have an unused Exo set you can have cheap, I could even drop them off as I pass through Denton on my way to work.

I've been very busy and not had time to reply unfortunately.

We've bought a bike now, it's very light and seems the best in its price range. It also has the Tektro brake levers I was looking for. Only problem is he isn't keen on the orange so it may get painted.
