Buying a GT Zaskar - how to make sure its the real deal

Briefly toyed with taking all the stuff off my Avalanche and switching it over to a Zaskar... Pity a Zaskar frame seems to cost more than the whole Avalanche is worth.

That's a nice looking frame kaya... I always loved the welded plate on the seat stays.

Not always the case..

Ok, mine's a '97 but . . once I'd sold a couple of bits left bolted on it, it only cost me £30.

I was under the impression that Zaskars were 27.0 seatpost and others were 27.2.

Pretty sure my '97 (Zaskar) is 27.2 . . . .

I sure your right the '96' was the last of the 27.0mm seatposts.

My red anno june 97 is 27.0mm. Not least as like TGF I too have the original (and heavy) seatpost with 27.0mm stamped on it. My Thomson 27.0 is a great fit.

Looks superb , was very tempted by that myself, especially as it's my size but hard to justify with the other stuff i have going on at the moment.

I can highly recommend a set of Gils stickers for that, he can do the GT logos in any colour, i was wishing i'd gone for yellow or red on mine.

Cheers Eddie , cranks in the pic are Sugino/White Industries, now changed for Proper White Industries ones, also tyres are changed, now has 2.1 Fire XC's.

I don't know whether they had anything underneath the bb shell, but the 8 digit serial should be stamped on the inside of the left (NDS) dropout.
