Brushes with the famous...

Bumped into David Baker in the car park after an NPS race, he was naked. Forever known afterwards as BIG David Baker :shock:
 
Back in 94 I was living in Austin, TX and as I was riding to school one morning I saw Lance and two other guys in full Motorola team gear coming up a hill from the opposite direction. Thought it was pretty cool that one of them said, "howdy" (literally).
 
i marshalled the two martins at a trials comp in brentwood, about 94. slipped and got right in the less famous ones way!

met rob warner at the first bike show in 95, said his hair looked like he'd lost a bet :LOL:

have been riding with, and see sam pilgrim quite a bit..

But Andy Ruffell (BMX star in the 80s) once borrowed my helmet when giving a cycle safety talk and BMX trick demo at a local school open day. I was a bit of a local hero by association for all of a day or two...

not 100% bicycle related but,in 1979 at the English round of the motorcycle trials world championship i spoke to the American rider Bernie Schrieber. he later became involved with Alpinestars bicycles.
 
I was in the same bar as Steve Peat in Les Gets when he won the World Cup in 2002, congratulated him in the queue for the bar. Also present were Brian Lopes, and loads of other DHers of the time, but my memory of the rest of the night is a touch hazy...
 
I met John White (F1 suspension guru) in 1997 when Marin first launched their new range of full suspension bikes. I'd just bought a new Mount Vision. He asked how the bike was.
