Very interesting. I think a good polish is enough to protect any exposed metal, its not like you will leaving it outside for months on end

Don't get me wrong. A wax n buff up is great on frames with good paintwork but on one with bare steel that you are not inclined to re-paint then an oily rag is just the ticket. :D
