Brother cycles pinecone, retro?

Yeah, looking at the price of their Big Brother at £800 F&F. This lacks through axles/some barnacles and adds rim brake bosses. I bet it's at least £600 F&F.
I kind of like the idea and I'm sure they'll probably sell a few but at that price you're into proper nice retro territory.

Could build something similar out of anything 90s for buttons, or something really posh still for less than the brother f&f will set you back.

I don't really get it, if i was in the market for a new bike, I wouldn't be building something that replicates an old 90s mtb with wide bars and a short stem, because I can just build that (and do!) out of...well....90s bikes and parts!

But it takes all sorts to make a world, and I'm sure some good bikes will come of it.

Some people genuinely don't like old stuff, they are desperate for the latest, and lap up the sales pitch.

They would be embarrassed talking to their mates about how they had a 30 year old trek 930 or kona Cindercone brazed up with through axle and disc. Their mates would think they were weird.

but these guys probably drive the market far more than the likes of us, which in turn produces some brilliant innovations and cost benefits

Great responses so far, I do agree that there are many folks that don't have the skill/time/tools/patience to hunt down and renovate a period bike, plus others that want to specify exact size, colour and spec etc.
Adding all the extra braze-ons is also a bonus here because retro frames and forks never had those and the ability to run 650b and clearance for mega wide rubber will also add to the appeal imho.
I also just love to see rigid bikes with skinny steel tubing :)

I like Brother stuff, I've had a Big bro and a Kepler. It's cool that that this isn't suspension corrected and It'll be interesting to see how it's priced.

They tend to sell forks separately so I imagine they'd sell quite well too.

Though thinking about it the brake bosses will be spaced for 650b, so not that useful for use on retro frames
